Statement on the participation of Switzerland in the operation of European XFEL

Statement of the Swiss Academies of Sciences on the the participation of Switzerland in the operation of European XFEL. The European X-ray Free Electron Laser (European XFEL) is a research facility under construction since 2009 in the Hamburg area and is the result of an international endeavor uniting 12 participating countries. It will start operating by mid-2017, opening up unprecedented possibilities for researchers worldwide.
