Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Sciences (SSHMSN) gets the doctors and the Swiss naturalists interested in the history of their disciplines together. Nowadays the SSHMSN is the professional association of historians of medicine and the natural sciences and aims to promote the rise of the history of medicine and the natural sciences in Switzerland and to be a place of scientific cooperation.
The SSHMSN holds an annual scientific meeting that addresses current topics and publishes the periodical journal "Gesnerus". To promote young researchers, the society - together with the the "Dr Markus Guggenheim-Schnurr Foundation" – grants financial support and confers the Henry E. Sigerist prize to young scholars in history of medicine and sciences. Further, the SSHMSN maintains national and international relationship with similar institutions and organisations.
