Identifying Human Skeletons in Forensic Anthropology

This three day workshop covers a range of aspects in the analysis of human skeletal remains as they relate to forensic anthropology. Participants will receive theoretical and practical training, utilizing an array of learning materials including contemporary skeletons. Prof.Mann and Prof Wittwer-Backofen will collaborate in presenting actual cases that they have worked.

FASE Basic Course and Symposium 2020

The Forensic Anthropology Society of Europe (FASE) is calling for participation in a one-week Basic Course in forensic anthropology at the Medical faculty of the University of Crete (Greece), from the 31st of August to the 5th of September 2020. The course is intended for students and practitioners at their first steps in the field of forensic anthropology from the fields of anthropology, biology, forensic medicine, archaeology etc. The course will accept up to 40 participants.

10th World Congress on Mummy Studie/WMC 2020 - Bolzano

We have the distinct pleasure to invite you to participate in the 10th World Congress on Mummy Studies, to be held in Bolzano, August 31-September 3, 2020. The scientific program will focus on all aspects of mummy research, ranging from recent technological and methodological advancements to conservation of mummies and the museological use and ethical aspects of mummified remains. A particular focus will be given to the topic “Standards in Mummy Science”. Thereby, we would like to enhance the discussion and development of standardized approaches for the study of mummies, including data interpretation, contextualization, as well as conservation and ethical aspects.
The congress will include keynote lectures, podium presentations and poster sessions. In addition, we are planning to organize workshops, round table discussions and a tour to visit the Iceman finding site.
