The foundation of the "Working Group for Historical Anthropology of Switzerland" dates back to 1982, thanks to Roland Menk of the Department of Anthropology of the University of Geneva. The goal was to collect all available data from anthropological skeletal remains in a database and make it accessible. After the untimely death of the Genevan promoter, the working group (AGHAS) was reconstituted in 1986 with the Swiss Society of Anthropology, with a focus on "promoting research in the field of anthropology and prehistoric history of Switzerland and its regions neighbouring "and" to promote interdisciplinary collaboration primarily with archaeology, medicine and history of science. "Its members consist of practical and scientific anthropologists and representatives of related sectors, which show a common interest in anthropology and prehistoric history of Switzerland.
