Prix de Quervain for Polar and High Altitude Research is attributed to young scientists for outstanding achievements in their Master or PhD thesis or other research projects. The Prix de Quervain is announced annually, and funded by the Swiss Committee on Polar and High Altitude Research (SKPH), the Commission for the for Research Station on Jungfraujoch (SKJF) and the Swiss Foundation for Alpine Research.

Call for proposals: Prix de Quervain 2024 for polar research
The Prix de Quervain 2024 will be awarded for work on topics relating to the two polar regions. Eligible to participate are young researchers with a master's or doctoral degree from the last 24 months or their master's, dissertation or postdoctoral work at a research institution in Switzerland. The evaluation will assess the scientific significance, creativity/originality, implementation in science and practice, and presentation, taking into account the different levels and academic ages of the applicants.
Prix de Quervain 2023: 37,000 ice cliffs and their influence on glacier melt in the Himalayas
More than ever before – Marin Kneib has employed the latest satellite technology and camera systems to measure over 37,000 ice cliffs. The researcher will be awarded the Prix de Quervain 2023 by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences for an extremely comprehensive doctoral dissertation at the ETH Zurich and the Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL.

Die Akademie der Naturwissenschaften Schweiz (SCNAT) verleiht dem Botanischen Garten Neuenburg den Prix Museum 2023. Damit zeichnet sie die qualitativ hochstehende langjährige Arbeit der Institution aus. Ausstellungen und Forschung sind Teil der Mission dieses aussergewöhnlichen Gartens. Der in einer kleinen Talmulde auf der Südseite eines Jura-Faltenscheitels gelegene Garten ermöglicht ein einzigartiges Besuchserlebnis.

Awarding outstanding Swiss PhDs in natural sciences
Prix Schläfli 2023 award for the four best dissertations in natural sciences
Simone Bavera (Astronomy), Joël Bloch (Biology), Michelle Frei (Chemistry) and Ariadni Afroditi Georgatou (Geosciences) were honoured with the Prix Schläfli 2023 for findings made in the context of their dissertations. Through this prize, the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) singles out the four most significant insights of young researchers at Swiss universities. The Prix Schläfli has been awarded since 1866.
