Quality assurance

The products of the Swiss Academy of Sciences shall be characterised by their independence and quality. To bolster the working processes, in 2014 the Executive Board put into force a quality assurance system for products for the attention of politics.

Transparency of interests

Part of the quality assurance is the creation of transparency of interests. Nowadays, researchers are often networked with many societal actors. This is central for the constitution of their expertise and promotes the relevance of their research for society. These engagements can, however, also result in conflicts of interest. All contributors to author groups of print products in the policy area are therefore required to self-declare their interests. In so doing, the Academy follows the international development towards more transparency in scientific policy advice.

Declarations of interests are made available on request in any case. Five years after the release of a publication, the declarations are deleted.
