21st Swiss Global Change Day

The Swiss Global Change Day is the once a year event organised by ProClim to look beyond the horizon of climate and global change research with well-known experts, covering a broad range of topics. Benefit from this ‘marketplace’ event: Plenty of time is provided to present your own research or organisation with a poster or at a stand and to network with colleagues. The most attractive and comprehensive posters submitted by students or postdocs will be honoured with a travel award of CHF 1000.–.

MEET THE EXPERTS: TALKS AND SPEAKER

Edouard Davin (ETH Zurich): Can we transition to sustainable land use within the next 30 years?

Sabine Fuss (Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change, Berlin): How much can CO2 removal contribute to reaching the Paris goals?

Beat Glogger (MAZ – The Swiss School of Journalism / scitec media GmbH / higgs): Fake News – a fatal tsunami: How can scientists react?

Niko Paech (University of Siegen): Post Growth Economy: what will have to change?

Bettina Schaefli (University of Bern): Energy-turnaround in times of retreating glaciers: what is at stake?

Marcel Visser (The Netherlands Institute of Ecology, Wageningen): Differential seasonal shifts: climate change leads to ecological relationship problems

JOIN THE MARKETPLACE

Get the experience: Workshop for young researchers (New Feature at the SGCD)

Are you at the beginning of your scientific career?

Discuss challenges in a scientific career with experienced researchers and benefit from their experiences.

You can meet and exchange ideas in a half-hour workshop on the following topic:

  • Science and Media Relations: How to interact with the Media

-----

Show your research: Poster Session with awards

This event is also an opportunity for students and post-docs to show research results by posters and to discuss them with colleagues. The most attractive and comprehensive posters will be honoured with a travel award of CHF 1000.– which allows the winners to attend an international conference in the current year. The poster awards are sponsored by ACP, SAGW and ProClim.

Posters can be submitted in the following categories:

  • Geosphere | Biosphere
How the biological, chemical and physical processes interact and respond to climate change with topics including carbon cycle, land use and cover changes, biodiversity, past climate changes and others.
  • Atmosphere | Hydrosphere
Understanding of the physical climate system and hydrological processes, with topics including predictability of climate, stratosphere-troposphere, water cycle, radiation and energy transmission, cryosphere and others.
  • Human Dimensions | Sustainability
How humans affect and are affected by climate and global change, with specific topics including environmental consciousness, communication, values, behaviour, transformation, ‘turning knowledge into action’.

Further information about the poster session will follow with the opening of the registration
