International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES 2020)

Venue

Hall 8b Messe Düsseldorf
Am Stand
40474 Düsseldorf
Deutschland

IRES provides a coherent overview of energy storage technologies that can enable the global transition towards the decarbonisation of economies through ubiquitous renewable energy systems. The conference program encompasses all storage technologies in their context, and welcomes case studies, applications, country scenarios, trend analyses, and barriers to be overcome for the transition process.

The overarching theme for 2020 is "climate protection" and the contribution that storage systems make to this. On the first day (March 10, 2020), the key notes from representatives of the EU Commission and the World Bank will deal with the political framework, while in the session "the CEO's View" industry representatives such as Bosch CEO Dr. Christian Fischer will discuss how climate protection and business can be combined .

Contributions such as the Key Note by Dr. Volker Hille, Salzgitter AG, for the production of "green steel" , but also contributions to the decarbonization of industry and trade in the "Decarbonization Hub" at the trade fair and in the Forum show how climate protection requires efforts to reduce CO2 emissions - through the consistent use of renewable energies - and how this works in industry. To achieve all this, a change in the energy system is needed, driven by innovation and the development of energy storage technologies .

In 2020, the IRES and ESE components of the conference complement each other ideally: While ESE focuses on business models, best practices and markets, the IRES sessions of EUROSOLAR will focus on research & development in the fields of thermal storage, battery storage, other electrical storage, chemical storage and power-to-x technologies and will also present their combination and optimized use in energy systems at the world's largest scientific storage conference.

The program will be complemented by accompanying workshops of the ESE-association BVES on questions of standardization/testing, legal conditions for storage and standardization processes. EUROSOLAR will make important contributions to the European outlook and to the transformation towards a completely renewable energy system and the market framework necessary for comprehensive climate protection.
