65 million years ago, dinosaurs vanished from this planet. 12 000 years ago, mammoths disappeared from Europe. This is what we all heard in school – but what happened in between in our region is a story rarely told. Follow Daniel Ballmer on a journey through a forgotten age: From the giant birds and walking whales of the Eocene, passing by monstrous pigs and panda horses, sprinting hyaenas and scimitar-toothed cats, into the vast mammoth steppes of the last ice age. Search for the last survivors of ancient ecosystems in the meadows and forests around Biberstein, and learn how the landscape of the Jurassic (the hills, of course) would look if our ancestors had been a little more careful with their environment.
