Scientific support for the implementation of the Global Sustainable Goals in Switzerland

In September 2015, the community of states adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for a sustainable economic, social and ecological development globally.

For the national implementation of the 17 SDG goals until 2030, the Federal Council also set up an advisory group with representatives from private-sector business, non-governmental organisations, associations and the scientific community. Delegated by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, the economist Renate Schubert (Head of the Institute for Environmental Decisions, ETH Zurich) and the geographer Peter Messerli (Director of the Centre for Development and Environment, Uni Bern) will represent the scientific community.
