Between 2007 and 2017, children in eight low- and middle-income countries received, on average, 25 antibiotic prescriptions from birth through age five - up to five times higher than the already high levels observed in high-income settings.

Dazu gehören etwa Fettleibigkeit, gewisse Infektionskrankheiten, chronische und nichtübertragbare Krankheiten, Kindesentwicklung, geistiges Altern, Depressionen und Angstzustände. Jede Person in der Schweiz sollte daher Zugang zu hochwertiger Natur haben, schreiben die Forschenden.

This assessment is aimed at understanding and identifying factors in human society at both the individual and collective levels, including behavioural, social, cultural, economic, institutional, technical and technological dimensions, that can be leveraged to bring about transformative change for the conservation, restoration and wise use of biodiversity, while taking into account broader social and economic goals in the context of sustainable development. It explores the drivers of and motives behind broad societal changes and transitions to inform the design of relevant policies, communication and engagement campaigns and other actions.

Science is a commitment to mankind

Biologist and specialist in tropical medicine Thierry Freyvogel died shortly before his 90th birthday. He founded the Commission for Research Partnerships with Developing Countries (KFPE) and was an honorary member of SCNAT. Marcel Tanner, President of SCNAT, pays tribute to him in his obituary.
