Which types of vaccines against Covid-19 are currently relevant for Switzerland?

Currently, the mRNA vaccines made by Moderna (Spikevax®) and Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty®) as well as the protein vaccine made by Novavax (Nuvaxovid®) are available in Switzerland. All vaccines are also approved for booster vaccinations.

The authorization of the vector vaccine from Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2-S, COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen) was revoked in 2023, as the producer refrains from further distribution in Switzerland.

In addition, mRNA vaccines specifically adapted for the Omicron variant are also authorized as booster vaccines. Both Moderna and Pfizer/Biontech have one vaccine each specifically against the Omicron subvariants XBB.1.5, BA.4/5 and BA.1, respectively.
