Light year

A light year is the distance travelled by light within one Julian year (365.25 days). Since the speed of light is 299,792 km/s, that is about 9.46 trillion kilometres. The light second, light minute, light hour or light day can also be defined in the same way.
For example, the Moon is about one light-second and the Sun about eight light-minutes away from the Earth.
